# Particles and Waves

> Independent product studio building essential software tools, books, and writing at the intersection of Science and Art. Established 2025. We make iOS and Android apps, publish multilingual books on Amazon Kindle, and write a blog about AI tools, independent development, and post-platform distribution. The studio operates as a Solo-Conglomerate — a single operator running an integrated product portfolio rather than a traditional team-based company.

The studio name comes from the wave–particle duality in quantum mechanics: physical products (Particles) and digital products (Waves) are treated as complementary expressions of the same underlying business. The guiding principle is "Science × Art = Premium" — either alone is commodity or self-indulgence.

The studio ships native mobile apps focused on small, durable productivity and learning tools.

- [notaps: Oshi](https://particlesandwaves.org/en/oshi): iOS app for Japanese fan-activity ("oshi-katsu") logging. Centralizes events, news, goods, and anniversaries for favorite artists or characters. No registration or login is required. Free plan up to 2 entries; Premium up to 10 for ¥200/month or ¥1,500/year, with a 14-day free trial for eligible users. Local-first storage with optional complete backup to the user’s private iCloud Drive area; anonymized Firebase Analytics for service improvement. On-device import support for the Oshibana export ZIP is in preparation for its August 20, 2026 release.
- [第一種衛生管理者 試験対策・一問一答 (First-Class Health Officer exam practice)](https://particlesandwaves.org/en/eisei): Japanese-language iOS app for Japan's First-Class Health Officer national qualification. 300 original questions written to the published exam scope and format — not reproductions of past papers — each checked against e-Gov statutory data reflecting the April 2026 amendments. Legal questions display the governing article in place. The pass simulation scores each of the five subjects against the real criteria (40% per subject and 60% overall) and names the subject at risk of failing the whole exam. Errors reported in-app reach all users without an app update. Ten questions free per day, one free half mock exam, one-time unlock, no ads, no subscription, no account; study records stay on the device.

The flagship learning product of the studio.
- [Acsta — Virtual Goods Studio](https://particlesandwaves.org/en/oshi/#acstand): A virtual-goods creation experience for turning one photo into a moving acrylic-stand-style design. The current product scope is virtual-only: on-device subject cutout, motion and lighting, image/MP4 saving, and sharing. It is not a physical merchandise ordering service. iOS and Android versions are being developed.

## Development environment

Tailscale is the road (reachability without a static IP or open ports), mosh is the window (a connection that survives network switches and sleep), tmux is the desk (a session that outlives the window), and the Mac mini is the base where the AI coding agents keep running. Explains why "Tailscale or mosh?" is the wrong question — they sit at different layers — and why a stationary base beats a closed laptop for long agent runs. Also states where the setup does not help: fine-grained GUI work, on-device debugging, and wide-screen design work.
